The first few minutes matter. The wrong move can turn a recoverable drive into a lost one. When in doubt, power it down and call us.
- Stop using the device. Do not save anything new to it.
- Do not run recovery apps you found online. They often overwrite the files you want.
- Do not open the drive or put it in the freezer. This can cause more damage.
- Do not keep rebooting a failing drive. Every spin-up risks permanent data loss.
- If a RAID array or NAS fails, do not force it back online or run a rebuild. One wrong move can corrupt the parity data and lose the whole array.
