Managed Data Backup

Backups That Work
When You Actually
Need Them.

Hardware fails. Ransomware happens. Files get deleted by accident. We set up monitored, tested backups so your data is there when you need it. Already lost data on a failed drive? See our data recovery service.

The Problem

Most "backups"
only work in theory

The backup software runs every night and the dashboard shows green ticks. Then the day comes when you actually need to restore a critical file only to find the job has been silently failing for months. The encryption key is missing or the off-site copy never made it past the firewall.

By the time you find out, the critical data you need is gone for good.

How We Fix It

Backups that get
properly tested

We design your backups to fit your business. Servers, accounting systems, workstations and Microsoft 365 can all be covered. Copies live off-site in Canadian data centres with encryption and immutable retention that a compromised system can't modify or delete your data.

We test the restore process monthly so you know you always have a known-good copy if the worst happens.

What We Cover

Everything Worth Backing Up

If your team relies on it to do their job, it needs to be part of the backup plan.

Server & Workstation Backup

  • Image-based backups for full bare-metal recovery
  • File-level backups for fast individual restores
  • Coverage scaled to what matters, from servers and accounting systems to every workstation
  • Encrypted at rest and in transit
  • Daily, weekly and monthly retention as needed

Microsoft 365 Backup

  • Exchange Online mailboxes including shared mailboxes
  • OneDrive personal storage
  • SharePoint document libraries
  • Teams chat history and channel files
  • Independent of Microsoft's own retention

Off-site & Encryption

  • Off-site replication to Canadian data centres by default
  • Strong encryption at rest and in transit
  • Geographic separation from your main site
  • Local copies for fast restores when possible
  • Immutable retention, backup data can't be modified or deleted by an infected system

Monitoring & Tested Restores

  • Monthly sampled restore tests on real client data, not just backup job checks
  • Daily backup status reports reviewed by our Kingston team every morning
  • Recovery time and point targets discussed up front, not after an incident
  • Typical recovery: minutes for files, hours for a full server rebuild
  • Coordinated response when a real incident hits

Common Questions

Data Backup FAQ

Something not covered here? Get in touch.

01 How is this different from the backup software we already have?
Most off-the-shelf backup software takes copies of your data and puts them 'somewhere'. The hard part is making sure the backups actually work when you need them. We monitor every backup job, test restores on a schedule and update the configuration when your systems change. Backups that aren't tested and secured in the event of an incident can't be relied on for recovery.
02 Where is our data stored?
Backups are stored in Canadian data centres with encryption at rest and in transit. We do not send your data to US-hosted services. For clients with strict compliance needs, we can document the storage location and chain of custody.
03 How fast can you restore our data after data loss?
It depends on what was lost and how big the environment is. A single deleted file can be restored in minutes. A full workstation or server rebuild is typically a matter of hours for most small and mid-sized businesses. Because image backups run nightly, the usual recovery point is within the past 24 to 48 hours, with more frequent snapshots available for critical systems. We talk through those targets up front so there are no surprises.
04 Does this protect us against ransomware?
Yes, when it's configured properly. Modern ransomware actively tries to delete or encrypt backups before triggering. We store copies off-site in immutable storage that an infected device, or a compromised admin account, cannot reach, modify or delete. That's the difference between a bad week and an existential event.
05 Microsoft already protects our 365 data, right?
Microsoft replicates data for availability, not for accidental deletions, retention misconfigurations or ransomware that hits OneDrive. They are explicit in their service agreement that data protection is your responsibility. We add a separate backup of your 365 environment so a deleted mailbox or encrypted SharePoint library is recoverable.
06 Is this available on its own, or only with a full managed IT plan?
Both. Data backup works as a standalone service, pairs naturally with our cybersecurity services, or as part of a fully managed IT support plan. We scope the coverage to what you actually need backed up from just your servers to every workstation, mailbox and SaaS platform your team relies on.
07 How is this priced?
Flat monthly pricing. Per user for Microsoft 365 and other SaaS data, per workstation or server for image-based backups. You'll know the number before you commit. No per-restore fees, no surprise invoices when you actually need to use it.
08 Do you cover businesses outside Kingston?
Yes. Data backup is largely delivered remotely. We regularly serve clients across Kingston, Gananoque, Brockville, Napanee, Belleville and Prince Edward County but are able to support across Ontario without distance being a factor.

Pairs With

Cybersecurity Services

Backup is your last line of defence. The best way to never need it is to keep attackers out in the first place. Your disaster recovery and business continuity plan should start with cybersecurity.

  • 24/7 monitoring and human threat response
  • Ransomware, phishing and identity takeover protection
  • Endpoint security for every device
